16 Nov Isle of Ely Primary School Topping Out Ceremony
Frank Shaw Associates is pleased to announce that the Topping Out Ceremony has taken place for their Active Learning Trust sponsored Isle of Ely Primary School. The 630 place Primary School incorporates a 52 place Pre-School and an Out of School Club. It is located to the north of Ely, Cambridgeshire at the heart of a new residential quarter.
The design allows for the creation of an inspirational learning environment within a well developed, highly sustainable and robust building, with the provision of flexible and adaptable spaces which will meet changing educational needs and growing population of Ely. The scheme was originally designed to be constructed in two phases however as pupil demand changed the scheme will all be built at once.
Gary Peile, the trust’s chief executive, said: “There has been a great effort from a lot of people to get this project off the ground and completed to schedule. We’re extremely grateful for everyone’s hard work and dedication, and the topping-out ceremony will allow us to celebrate the beginning of a new school serving the growing population of Ely.”
Key Stage 1 classrooms, administration, the Main Hall and Library will be ready for use in January 2016; with the whole school completed by May 2016.
